Welcome New and Returning Members!

Thank you for beginning, or renewing, your membership with the Puget Sound Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders!

The Professional Chapter was founded in 2004 and is active in three regions: Jamaica, Nicaragua, and Tanzania.

  • The Jamaica Program designed and implemented a bio-diesel processor to convert waste vegetable oil from the hospitality industry into affordable biodiesel for Emergency Response vehicles.
  • Working in concert with nonprofit, Agros, the Nicaragua Program currently has projects designing systems for irrigation and rainwater harvesting.
  • Working with local architecture firm Olson Kundig Architects and the nonprofit Songea's Kids, we're designing the Hope Village Orphanage in Tanzania to benefit over 150 children. Check out a video of the well being drilled here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTYVee65-6g

We are also exploring a collaboration with Rotary, to support water-supply projects in Ethiopia.

Chapter meetings are a great way to get to know our members and projects. Information can be found on our calendar page at ewb-pugetsound.org.

We encourage you to sign up for an account on our website if you have not yet done so, here. You can then choose to join our email list and receive our monthly chapter announcements for the exact date and location of the meetings and for volunteer opportunities.

There are also a variety of volunteer opportunities, from mentoring students, to working on project teams, to doing R&D on low-cost alternative systems, to running the chapter. Check out the possibilities here!

On behalf of our Executive Committee, I thank you for your interest in EWB. I hope to meet you at an upcoming meeting. If you have any questions, please feel free to respond to membership [at] ewb-pugetsound [dot] org.

Sincerely,

Anca Scaesteanu
Membership Committee Chair
